Arjun Bijlani: If you don’t listen to your body, it eventually stops listening to you

Actor Arjun Bijlani started his journey in the entertainment industry in 2004 with Kartika. 22 years later, having created an impact with his performance in shows like Remix, Left Right Left, Miley Jab Hum Tum, Naagin, Ishq Mein Marjawan, and Pyar Ka Pehla Adhyaya: Shiv Shakti, along with movies like Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani and web series State of Seige: 26/11, he is soon making his Netflix debut with JD Majethia’s Chumbak. He has evolved from a chocolate-boy image to a more mature and dependable actor. He is undoubtedly one of the fittest actors today, but his focus has shifted beyond physicality to a more mature, holistic approach that centers on mental balance and inner stability.

He said, “Earlier, it was about looking fit for a specific camera angle. Today, it’s about mental equilibrium. It’s about the energy required to sustain a sixteen-hour shoot and still have enough left to be a father and a husband.”

He starts his day with soaked chia seeds and lime water to simulate digestion, followed by a diluted apple cider vinegar drink. Arjun avoids processed food because he understands that it disrupts his physical energy and mental clarity and leaves him feeling “sluggish.” He carries a tiffin with him for shoots to stay consistent with his clean-eating habits. Asked what it consists of, he shared, “Ragi or jowar rotis infused with fenugreek, paired with lean fish and vegetables sautéed in mustard oil or ghee.” And while he prefers this diet, he also indulges in some cheat days where he allows himself to enjoy his favorite sweets with moderation.

As for his fitness approach, he has shifted from muscle-building to developing functional endurance. He also includes weight training five to six days a week, along with active recovery, whether it is swimming with his son or playing badminton, keeping his cardio engaging without a monotonous treadmill routine. He further said, “Fitness shouldn’t be a prison. It is the fuel that allows you to enjoy the indulgence. Travel, family, and clean fuel—that’s the ultimate recharge. If you don’t listen to your body, it eventually stops listening to you.”
