Babul Supriyo: I was getting a lot of romantic songs, then things changed

Singer Babul Supriyo recently opened up about a challenging phase in his career after Hum Tum, admitting that changing music trends played a big role in slowing things down for him.

Speaking about that time, he said, “I was getting a lot of romantic songs,” but things began to shift as the industry evolved. With the rise of Himesh Reshammiya and a new sound taking over Bollywood music, opportunities started becoming fewer.

Addressing the long-standing perception about his career, Babul candidly shared, “I agree that I did not get my due.” He explained that several factors contributed to this phase, including changes in trends and other industry-related challenges.

Without going into specifics, he also hinted at behind-the-scenes issues, saying, “There’s some bad politics too, but I won’t talk about it.” He chose to maintain a balanced perspective, adding that despite everything, the industry had also given him recognition and a platform.

“If the industry hadn’t given me anything, I wouldn’t have been given this platform to talk about what went wrong,” he said, making it clear that he doesn’t want to dwell on negativity.

Summing up his thoughts, Babul added, “It happens with everyone,” acknowledging that ups and downs are a part of every artist’s journey. While that phase was personally and professionally difficult, he now looks back at it with acceptance rather than regret.
