Produced by legendary filmmaker Shakti Samanta, Balika Badhu released in 1976 and starred Sachin Pilgaonkar and Rajni Sharma in the lead. Based on Bimal Kar’s Bengali novel, the film follows a young couple as they gradually grow from innocence towards a deeper understanding of companionship and marriage, offering a glimpse into the social and cultural world of its time.
The film’s enduring appeal is closely connected to its music. Composed by RD Burman with lyrics by Anand Bakshi, the soundtrack featured memorable voices including Amit Kumar, Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhosle and Mohammed Rafi. Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, sung by Amit Kumar, remains one of the most recognisable songs associated with the film.
