Sambhaji Sasane: Happiness lies in simple, meaningful moments

Actor Sambhaji Sasane, who has been receiving appreciation for his Marathi film Rubaab, is currently enjoying a successful phase in his career. Known for films like Wagherya, B.E. Rojgaar and Love & Shukla, the actor is also set to reunite with Sai Tamhankar for Bol Bol Rani.

On the occasion of International Day of Happiness, the actor gets candid about what happiness means to him in today’s fast-paced world. Talking about the idea of real happiness, he says, “For me, real happiness comes from feeling connected to people, to work, and to moments that feel genuine. In today’s fast-paced world, we are often chasing the next achievement or milestone, but happiness is usually hiding in much simpler places. Sometimes it is a meaningful conversation, sometimes it is watching audiences connect with a character you played, and sometimes it is just sitting quietly with people who matter to you. I feel real happiness is when you can pause and truly experience those moments instead of constantly rushing past them.”

Sharing a personal memory that connects food and happiness, he says, “For me, food and happiness are deeply connected. Growing up, there were times when things were difficult and my parents were away. My five sisters and I would sit together and share a simple plate of sambar bhaat. It was not a big meal, but those moments of sharing made it feel special. Even today, that memory reminds me that happiness often comes from togetherness, not abundance. When I was growing up, eating vada pav or misal outside was a celebration for us. That is when I realised happiness is often hidden in the simplest moments.”

Speaking about dealing with stress, he says, “I love being on a film set, working till my body is exhausted or until the director says pack-up. When you get to live what you love, stress slowly becomes non-existent. And at the end of the day, going home and spending time with family helps me reconnect with myself.”

Ending with a message for everyone, he says, “I try to live life in a simple way, and that would be my message to everyone as well. Live life on your own terms. Do what you love, be yourself, and do not let the fear of other people’s opinions steal your happiness.”
